How To Wash A Suede Slipper

Auggie's Sheepskin Leather Goods and Gifts

Suede is a type of leather with a smooth , velvety finish. It is made from the split hide of leather, and is more susceptible to water and stain damage than full-grain leather. Many people love suede slippers because of how soft and comfortable they are to wear, as well as how warm and cozy the slippers are in the wintertime. However, at some point, your suede slippers will need to be cleaned. You can easily clean stains from your suede slippers with simple techniques.

Instructions

    • 1
Blot the stain with a clean cloth, if the stain is wet, then rub the stain off with a clean pencil eraser. If the stain is dry, rub it off with a damp towel or dab a bit of vinegar on it with a cotton ball.
    • 2
Remove lumps of dirt or grime from the suede slipper by filing the lumps off with a fingernail file. Gently rub the fingernail file back and forth over the chunks of dirt until they are removed.
    • 3
Brush the suede slipper gently with a wire suede brush to restore the appearance of the slipper. Brushing will bring up the nap of the suede, causing the suede to look new again.

Medical sheepskins are made from selected skins of the highest quality merino crossbreeds. Special tanning assures an unsurpassed sheepskin with soft, smooth and perspiration proof leather. The one inch fleece is a soft, dense golden color that helps regulate body temperature, providing cool comfort in summer and warmth in winter. This pure natural wool fleece stimulates circulation and promotes a healthy well being when used as a pad to sit or lie on. It actually helps to relax and regenerate the body.
Sheepskins are electrical semiconductors, whereas synthetic materials behave as non-conductors.
This property allows a natural exchange of static buildup on the skin or clothes.
The properties of sheepskin use as pads in a medical environment are extremely important. In-patient comfort is often the determining factor to good and fast recovery. In addition, patients confined to bed may suffer from a variety of ailments caused solely by the confinement itself such as:
1Bed-sores (decubitus).   2. Tender pressure points .  3. Poor air circulation about the body.                     4. Excessive perspiration. 5. Hip bone pressure. 6. Hemiparesis.   7. Partial paraplegia and tetraplegia.    8. Back ache, and 9. Insomnia.

All of these symptoms may be alleviated to some degree using medical sheepskin as a nursing aid.

Pure and Simple Sheepskin: The Natural Choice

Sheepskin: The Natural Choice
For centuries, sheep farmers and country folk have known that no natural or man-made fiber possesses the virtues of 100% sheepskin. The unique combination of leather skin on one side and wool fur on the other lends it remarkable properties.

Cool in Summer and Warm in Winter
Sheepskin wool is soft and resilient. Its fibers breathe, acting like a natural thermostat for your body. These hollow fibers can absorb up to 30% of their own weight in moisture without feeling wet, keeping you perfectly dry regardless of the weather. The free flow of air between you and the sheepskin fiber is a comforting change from the clamminess of leather and vinyl.
Organic
Unlike any other material in the world, sheepskin is a pure organic product. In time, it will return to its constituent elements.
Recycled By-product
A sheepskin pelt is only one of the many by-products of the sheep farming industry. This by-product of the food and wool industry is tanned and used in many wonderful ways rather than being discarded. Since sheepskin, like wood, is one of the few raw materials that nature will never exhaust, its value as both a food source and a production material is both aesthetic and ecological.

Care for Washable Sheepskin Rugs

Auggie's Sheepskin Leather Goods and Gifts
Cleaning your Sheepskin is a lot like washing your own Hair, and then brushing it into shape.
  • Brush up the wool pile with a sheepskin wire brush and shake out the skin as needed or vacuum with attachment only.
  •   Use approved non-enzyme cleaner. We recommend using Cloud Nine Sheepskin Shampoo.
  • For stubborn dirt, pre-soak item in sheepskin shampoo for 20 min (Woolite or laundry detergents ARE NOT RECOMMENDED)
  • Wash on a gentle cycle with lukewarm water (do not exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit). Then rinse thoroughly.
  •  Dry naturally away from heat. Flex skin while drying to soften the leather side, then brush to restore wool pile. Note that skin shrinkage of 8% to 10% may occur and is normal.
Sheepskin is Dry-cleanable (A)(40) with either white spirits or perchlorethylene
DO NOT EXPOSE RUGS TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT.
THIS MAY RESULT IN COLOR CHANGE OR FADING

LONG WOOL, BLACK OR DARK COLORED PELTS, ITEMS TRIMMED OR LINED
We DO NOT recommend machine washing pelts that have lined backs, dark colored pelts or items with trim, as color bleeding may occur.
We recommend Dry-cleaning (A)(40) with white spirits or perchlorethylene.
